BIG GIRL

by Hugh Travers

presented by White Label as a rehearsed reading, Feb 26th, 2015

When the teenage niece of a powerful TD becomes pregnant, it raises a few too many questions. Who is the father? Why is she going on a weekend shopping trip to the UK and why doe she insist on joking about it at an open mic night?

Based loosely on the classic Greek tragedy Antigone by Sophocles, The Big Girl reimagines the story for contemporary Ireland, in a town where everyone knows everyone's business and some people just can't take a joke.
